1. Complete the marriage license application within 60 days of the wedding ceremony.
2. Visit the Wake County Register of Deeds office: 300 S. Salisbury St Suite 1700 Raleigh NC 27601.

Monday – Friday
8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Both parties must be present to obtain the marriage license.
3. Bring the following items:
- Proof of social security or ITIN number
- Valid government issued ID
- Certified birth record - for applicants ages 16-20
- Certified copy of divorce decree – if finalized within the last 30 days
- Payment ($60.00) - cash or credit cards accepted
- Applications now accepted at the Southern Regional Center and Northern Regional Center. Regional centers are cash only
Acceptable Forms of Identification:
Applicants 21 years of age or older may use (1) of the following: - Driver’s license or State-issue I.D. Card (may not be expired)
- Passport (may not be expired)
- Military ID.
- Certified copy of birth certificate
Applicants 18-20 years of age: - Certified copy of birth certificate.
- Must come to Register of Deeds office

Acceptable Proofs of Social Security Number - Social Security Card
- W-2
- Tax return
